In open-plan offices, place extinguishers on columns or walls at visible locations. Ensure extinguishers are not obstructed by cubicles, furniture, or decorative plants. Maintain a clear access path of at least one meter around each extinguisher. Use prominent signage above or near each extinguisher to make it easily identifiable.
Placement for Commercial Kitchens
Commercial kitchens have specific fire extinguisher placement requirements due to the high risk of cooking oil fires. Install a Class K wet chemical extinguisher within 10 meters travel distance from the cooking area. Also keep an ABC dry powder extinguisher for other fire types in the kitchen area.
